Boromir was born in Gondor in 2978, son of Denethor II and the heir to the Stewardship of Gondor. He is described as being a fearless warrior, steadfast and valiant. Held in high regard by those around him, he strove only to protect his people. He joined the Fellowship of the Ring to travel to Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring, however, he disagreed with the decision to destroy it – thinking it would be more beneficial to keep it safe in Gondor. On their journey, the Ring began to corrupt his thoughts and he attempted to take it from Frodo. His misguided actions were later redeemed when he came to the aid of Merry and Pippin as they were attacked by Uruk-Hai. Sadly, Boromir was mortally wounded and died in Aragorn’s arms.
