Ragnar Lothbrok’s Sword (Vikings)

This sword is inspired by the popular TV show Vikings, and is the weapon used by the character Ragnar Lothbrok. The sword features a gilded gold handle with inset gems and traditional lacework. The blunted blade is deeply engraved with Viking runes.

This sword is a standard Viking style sword. Although commonly known as a Viking sword, this style of weapon was actually developed in the Frankish Empire during the 8th century, and was later used by the northern Scandinavians. This style of sword is derived from the Roman spatha, and then developed into the later arming sword of the Medieval Period.
